Hi I’m Ashley Low

Parents call me “the nanny who can take amazing photographs.”

Really, I have a way with children.
Parents are always amazed at how I’m able to sooth and comfort newborns - all they have to do is sit back and relax as I work my magic.
Even though I’ve been awarded Master Photographer in 2016 and been named as one of the best family photographers in Singapore, I still think that’s the most important thing you need to know about me.
More than taking beautiful photos, I know how to connect with babies to capture who they really are on camera.
I believe in honouring your baby’s natural character – including all their silly expressions and preferences. So when you look back on the photos 10 years from now, it reminds you who they really are – and how they used to smell and when you cradled them for the first time.
The photos are real and authentic as well as colourful and playful.
I’m known for using textures, props and lots of creativity during my shoots. I went around the world looking for new techniques and I fell in love with colour theory and floral design.
Whenever my clients see the final photos they gasp and sometimes get a little teary. They can never pin-point exactly why they love the photos, they just know they do.
That always brings a smile to my face because it means I’ve done my job as an artist and a photographer (and even a part-time nanny).

More than photography

I see myself as an educator as well as photographer.

I run photography workshops and even wrote a book to help you document your child’s life. It’s called “Watch me grow. A 12-step guide to photographing your baby's first year.

I believe the baby’s first year is so rapid and beautiful, that every parent should document the journey. It’s why I created Our Beautiful Journeya photographic journey of your baby’s first year, from tummy to tippy toes.

Newborn and family photography isn’t wildly known like weddings photography. But I believe it’s far more meaningful.

As adults, we have no memory of being cradled as a baby and doted on by our parents. It can almost seem like it never happened. That our parents didn’t spend day in day out caring for us, making sure we were fed and healthy.

But they did – and the photos help us remember.

How i got here

I was in the advertising business for 10 years before I became a master photographer.
It was a series of uncanny events that led me here. When I was 18 year’s old, I had a near drowning experience that made me realise the importance of family. Before that point, I had a difficult relationship with my parents. In my teenage rebellion, I didn’t see how much they loved me.
I wanted that to change. I wanted to start creating beautiful memories with them. But it wasn’t until I found my path as a photographer that I realise how much that experience affected me.
Through my photography, I want children to see how loved they are. And I want parents to be able to express their love and bear witness to their child’s development and uniqueness.
Advertising taught me a lot of things: an appreciation of good design, how to be hands-on and proactive. But I wanted more. I carried my DLSR camera everywhere and finally my brother said “why don’t you build a career with your camera?” It was a light bulb moment for me. Until that point I didn’t realise I could use my passion to build a business. But passion alone isn’t enough to develop a skill or build a business, so I flew to the University of the Arts in London to master photography. I’ve invested in my skills ever since, and today I’m proud to be awarded as one of Singapore’s best family photographers, helping people treasure their families through beautiful photography.

Work with Me.

Because more than taking beautiful photos, I know how to connect with babies to capture who they really are on camera.
